A Dock, The Lake, A Family of 4 and a Small World Connection | Vernon Family Photographer

I love when family's travel from near and far to have me photograph them.  

This family vacations near the Okanagan a few times a year and made a special trip out to Kalamalka lake to have some photos done with me.  

I love the ages of these boys.  They were fun to work with and really showed their unique personalities.  

I didn't know them before we met at the shoot but as we had a chance to chat through our session we found out that we have someone in common.  My Uncle in Calgary was their older son's hockey coach this past year.  Definitely makes us realize what a small world this really is.

The Climbing Trees | Kelowna Lifestyle Photographer

The other day while playing in the yard with #2 and #3.  I asked my son (#2) if he could teach his sister (#3) something.  I asked him to teach her something, anything that he wanted.  

The only stipulation is that whatever he decided to teach her, had to spark her interest.  He thought for a minute and smirked at his sister and said, "I can teach you how to climb a tree!".  

He showed his sister the 2 trees in the backyard that are side by side.  The tree are just under 20 years old and they have branches that are strong but low enough that kids can reach up and pull themselves into the tree.  

#2 preceded to show #3 how it's done.  He grabbed the first tree limb and pulled himself up.  Thank goodness for #3's mighty strength because she was able to pull herself up into the tree beside his.  

#2 was so proud that he was able to teach his little sister something and #3 let him teach her.  She did not let on that she had climbed the tree before.  She asked him questions and waited to hear him answer.  

I LOVE these moments.  These moments don't happen all the time, my kids push each others buttons and fight as well, but in this memory all I will remember is that my son was a proud big brother.

Over the next little while I'm going to Blog some of my favourite Families from the last year.  I was not a very good blogger and I'm catching up....

 

This is the Cleroux Family.  They are a lovingly connected family.  You can feel the love between the 3 kids and with their parents and dog.  I was thankful to have been able to photograph them and get a glimpse into their life.

 

 

Sarafanov Ballet Studio | West Kelowna Dance Studio Photographer

My daughter Bella switched dance schools this past September.  I thought it was going to be a struggle for her, as she had been at her previous dance school for 6 years.  I was so thankful for Natasha Sarafanova, who not only welcomed Bella into her studio with open arms but also helped to build Bella's confidence up in more ways than I think she will ever know.  Bella has learned an incredible amount this year and she and her two dance friends went on the win a High Silver and Second overall in their category and a recent local dance competition!
